Indigenous Disability Awareness Month
The Indigenous Disability Awareness Month is in November. For 2021, Senator Busson is wearing the shirt and pin in support of raising awareness on the Indigenous peoples living with disabilities.
RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood
On September 26, 2021, Senator Busson was privileged to lay a wreath, on behalf of the people of British Columbia, at the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood to honour those Police and Peace Officers who have lost their lives in service to our communities.
Raising of the Haida Totem Pole at the Daajing Giids RCMP Detachment
In the spirit of reconciliation, The Daajing Giids (Queen Charlotte) RCMP Detachment, in partnership with the Skidegate Band Council invited Senator Busson to witness the raising of the Haida Totem Pole at the Daajing Giids RCMP Detachment on September 9, 2021. Senator Busson was happy and honoured to attend and represent the people of British Columbia through her position in the Senate.
Mensa Canada virtual conference
On July 3, 2021, Senator Busson gave a virtual speech at the Mensa Canada virtual conference on the women in the RCMP and her ‘journey’ to the Senate along with the lessons learned about leadership and life.
Prince of Wales Virtual Model United Nations Conference (PWVMUN)
On June 25, 2021, Senator Busson gave a virtual speech at the opening ceremonies of the Prince of Wales Virtual Model United Nations Conference (PWVMUN) on the role as a senator, some of the challenges overcome and how youth can get involved and make a difference in today’s world and for the future.
Burnaby Fire Fighters IAFF 323
On June 10, 2021, Senator Busson met virtually with Mr. Scott Alleyn and Mr. Jeff Clark of the Burnaby Fire Fighters IAFF 323, to discuss current legislative issues: continued assistance to municipalities to maintain an adequate level of vital fire and emergency services; and banning toxic chemical flame retardants in upholstered furniture.
